A photographer at night, with camera and tripod and stars in the background.
Hi!
My name is Amirreza Kamkar and you are visiting my website probably because you're interested in night sky, photography or traveling, just like me! So welcome aboard!
I grew up in a small city in eastern Iran, where I could see a rather dark sky from the backyard. My curiosity about night sky and astronomy became a big part of my life very soon. I read books and magazines about astronomy and started observing the night sky with a binocular. Seeing the crescent moon through a small telescope (which was a prize for good grades in school!) was one of the highlights of my entire childhood.
With every thing I’ve learned and every new celestial object I’ve observed my interest and passion grew! I never forget the first time I saw the Saturn’s ring with my very small telescope (just a 6cm refractor telescope).
After a few years I began to take images of night sky. At first with an old film camera and then with a Canon EOS 500D digital camera.  Now more that 10 years passed since then but the passion is still here with me.
Currently I work as a freelance photographer and photo editor and I'm based in Passau, Germany.
My photos have been published many times in pop-sci magazines such as Discover, Sky & Telescope, Astronomy, Astronomy Now, Sky at Night and Astrosurf. I am also a contributing photographer at Science Photo Library
During these years I traveled to around the world for taking nightscape images, from Madagascar and Kenya to Canary Islands . Now I try to use every chance of stargazing in Europe, which is not as easy as it was back in Iran because of the weather!
If you are interested you're more than welcome to follow me on Instagram or subscribe my YouTube Channel. And if you have any question, please use the contact form in the website.
Clear Skies!
Amirreza
